Merciér Therapy is one of my favorite techniques to practice. It is joy and privilege to support women in the sacred fertility journey. It is especially rewarding to be able to provide a bodywork technique that is gentle and affordable and has such a high success rate!
This therapy provides a safe, gentle, and naturally-minded pelvic visceral manipulative technique for women facing fertility challenges, experiencing pelvic pain, recovering from gynecologic surgery, and having undergone traumatic birthing experiences.
Pelvic Visceral Manipulation is for women who have adhesions in their reproductive tract. Adhesions act like glue — disrupting the function of affected organs. Visceral Manipulation involves gentle stretching to loosen tightened areas of soft tissue and is continued until the tension is released. The goal is to decrease adhesions in and around the organs, ligaments, muscles, joints and support structures of the pelvis, abdomen, hips and lower back. It is gentle and noninvasive and has a high success rate.
Dr. Merciér, a Massage Therapist, Midwife, Naturopathic Physician, and PhD, conducted a four-year study that showed excellent results for patients with fertility issues. This is very promising for other women’s pelvic issues. Dr. Merciér has good clinical results, using this protocol, for women with pelvic pain, endometriosis, menstrual cramps, scar tissue healing, etc.
Dr. Merciér has perfected the Merciér Therapy protocol over several years and concluded a research study in 2012 that found 83% of her patients struggling with infertility were pregnant within 1 year.
The study was based on 6 full hours of Merciér Therapy broken down into 1-hour intervals per week for 6 weeks, which is recommended for all fertility patients. (For women coming in from out of the area, we can finish your therapy within an intensive 4 day weekend.)
Merciér Therapy is deep visceral manipulation of the female pelvic organs with additional supportive massage of the abdomen and low back to bring movement and blood flow to the entire pelvis. Merciér Therapy aligns well with HPC, allowing me to offer a very well-rounded holistic approach to physical medicine for women. Whether increasing mobility your shoulder joint or your uterus, you're optimizing the true function of the area and helping to return blood flow, which is therapeutic.
Dr. Merciér produced a documentary about her work. You can find more information about that here.
Dr. Danielle practices this technique alongside traditional chiropractic medicine and holistic pelvic care, with great results. Learn more about her work or contact her to see if Merciér Therapy is right for you by texting or calling (501) 232-8844.
